'Continue culture of giving aid'
KEPALA BATAS: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has said that he hopes the culture of giving away aid and contributions to the less well-off can be continued by the younger generation in the future.
He said he was glad to see the tendency of young entrepreneurs today who were willing to give away aid and contributions to lighten the burden of the less fortunate.
He said this good culture should be continued to ensure the hardcore poor receive the necessary assistance.
”It is also in line with the Government’s policy to eradicate hardcore poverty in the country so that these people can share the bounty from the country’s development and happiness,” he said Saturday at the Hari Raya aid presentation ceremony in the Pinang Tunggal state constituency here.

Present were Abdullah’s wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, Pinang Tunggal assemblyman Datuk Roslan Saidin and the donors’ representatives.
More than 200 people comprising the poor, orphans, single mothers and the disabled received the aid.
Similar events were held in the Bertam and Penaga state constituencies on Saturday.
Abdullah who is Member of Parliament for Kepala Batas, said the country also wanted to see the younger generation who had succeeded having a sense of responsibility, kindness and humanity in carrying on their daily lives.
“Now, more of our young people have become successful entrepreneurs and can afford to give out contributions to help the community improve their lives.
“If the culture is continued, God willing the population can enjoy the present wealth,” he said. - Bernama
